Harry Miller Wyatt, Jr.

Harry Miller Wyatt, Jr., 87, died on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Stillwater.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Highland Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Derrek Belase officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harry was born in Hugo on May 17, 1925, to Harry Miller Wyatt Sr. and Stella Jane (Paris) Wyatt.

He graduated from Antlers High School in Antlers before attending Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a master’s degree in civil engineering.

On Dec. 21, 1945, Harry married the love of his life, Billy Ruth Bear, in Antlers.

He joined the Army in September 1943 and served until the end of World War II in 1945.

He reenlisted in 1951 to fight in the Korean War, and was again honorably discharged in June 1953.  

Harry involved himself in the Stillwater community by participating in such activities as Meals on Wheels, aided in programs to provide bicycles for needed transportation, helped in an after school program for latch-key children known as Founders of Foundation Education, and gave a hand with summer camps for children. He was also a member of Action, Inc., Mission of Hope and many Southern Heights Methodist programs.

He is preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Norma May.

Harry is survived by his wife of 67 years, Billy Ruth Wyatt, of Stillwater; son, Bud Wyatt, and his wife, Nancy, of Ketchum; daughter, Becky George, and her husband, Steve, of Stillwater; son, Frank Wyatt, and his wife, Cindy, of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter, Amy Brun, and her husband, George, of Anchorage, Alaska; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Clifton Tony Wyatt, and his wife, Betty, of Ponca City; brother, Billy Burr Wyatt, and his wife, Carol, of Fort Collins, Colo.; and sister, Priscilla Jane Rives, and her husband, Bob, of Wichita, Kan.

Memorial contributions may be made in Harry’s name to the Highland Park United Methodist Church at 524 N. Stallard St., Stillwater, 74074; or Judith Karman Hospice at P.O. Box 818, Stillwater, 74076.
