Don Clift, 54, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hillside Christian Church with the Rev. Tommy Pollitz and the Rev. Bob Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Don was born May 24, 1958, in Odessa to Donald and Rebecca Clift. He was raised in Lexington, Okla., where he graduated from Lexington High School. He served as the senior class president and the Future Farmer Association class president. Don then attended Murray State College, where he served as editor for the school paper. He also was proud of his role as the Ping Pong champion on campus.

Don enrolled in Oklahoma State University, where he was a member of the FarmHouse Fraternity. While at OSU, he won many awards, including the OSU Animal Science Outstanding Graduate of 1980.

Don moved to Amarillo in 1987 to work for Texas Cattle Feeders. He married Jana Lynn Turpen on Jan. 6, 1990, in Amarillo. He worked in the agriculture industry for many years, working for Ralston Purina in Cherokee, Okla., Elanco in Eufaula, Okla., Texas Farms in Perryton and Preferred Beef in Booker. Don was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He was a friend to many and was always generous to anyone in need. He had a master network personality, which helped him to make many friends and acquaintances.

Don had the gift of not only being a friend but listener. He served as a board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Amarillo in the late 1980s. He recently served on the board of directors of Faith City Missions and was a member of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. More than anything, Don loved his Lord and family. He always made it a point to do whatever it took to make his girls happy and laugh, even if it meant making himself look silly.

Survivors include two daughters, Shayla Clift of Tulsa, Okla., and Skyla Clift of Stillwater, Okla.; three brothers, George Clift and wife Kathi, Roger Clift of Gruver and Mark Clift of Dallas; and his parents, D.R. and Becky Clift of Lexington, Okla.
