Marie Hopkins

Marie Hopkins, beloved wife and mother, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at her home in Stillwater at the age of 68. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a service celebrating Marie’s life will be held on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rusty Rhoads, officiating. Public visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, from noon to 6 p.m.

The daughter of the late John and Martha Pexa, Marie was born on Nov. 22, 1944, in Oklahoma City and received her early education at Mt. St. Mary’s High School, where she earned her young catholic messenger diploma before graduating in 1962.

After high school she went on to serve her country in the Air Force before being honorably discharged in 1967.

She married the love of her  life, Will Hopkins, on June 27, 1987. In the fall of 1987, her family moved to Stillwater which quickly became her home.

She worked for Stillwater Tag Agency as office manager for 20 years. She retired from Stillwater Tag Agency when she became ill in early 2010.

She enjoyed gardening, running an efficient house and was an avid bowler in her younger years. One of the things she most enjoyed where vacations with her family, mainly in beach areas because she loved the sun.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Pexa Jr.

She leaves behind her husband, Will Hopkins, of Stillwater; six children, Lisa and her husband Richard Hughes of Wichita Falls, Texas, Aaron and his wife, Rhonda Brown of Yukon, Christy Hopkins of Stillwater, Tracy and her husband Daniel Peckham of Stillwater, Micah Hopkins of Stillwater; one sister, Teresa Pexa of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many other family members. Marie loved her family beyond all else and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
