Catherine Ann ‘Kitty’ Jacob

Catherine Ann “Kitty” Jacob passed away on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at the Grace Living Center in Stillwater. She was 91. Viewing will be held at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home from 12-8 p.m. Tuesday.

A lifelong Payne County resident, she was born on Dec. 2, 1921, to German immigrants Henry and Augusta Hinrichs. She graduated from Stillwater public schools and attended Oklahoma State University for two years before leaving school at the age of 19 due to the death of her parents.

She married Ralph J. Jacob in April 1946 in Stillwater. They were married 46 years when Ralph passed away in 1992. They lived in and around Stillwater their entire life, but enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with friends.

Catherine was an employee of the Stillwater public schools, most notably as the secretary to the superintendent and clerk for the Board of Education. Her retirement in 1986 marked 26 years of service to the Stillwater Public School District.

Catherine was an active member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Herman, Frank and Ernest Hinrichs; and a great-grandson, Wyatt Jacob.

Survivors include one sister, Pauline (Polly) Putnam and her husband, Bill, of Stillwater; two sons, Jim Jacob of Stillwater, Tom Jacob and wife, Beverly, of Frisco, Texas; three grandchildren, Shane Jacob and wife, Jessica, of  Perkins, Lance Jacob and wife, Amanda, of Stillwater and Allison Jacob of San Antonio, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Andy, Cole, Chance and Lily.

The family would like to thank Linda Creekmore, Jean Human, Companion Hospice of Guthrie and Grace Living Center of Stillwater for their compassionate and loving care and immeasurable kindness towards Kitty and her family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Companion Hospice of Guthrie at 1314 E. Oklahoma Ave., Guthrie, OK 73044.
