Tom Arthur

Tom Arthur, 78 of Stillwater, passed from the dust of this Earth to the glory of heaven on July 12, 2013, at his farm southeast of Stillwater. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday  at Mehan Union Church, 8300 E. 68th St in Stillwater  with interment following at Perkins Cemetery in Perkins.

Thomas William Arthur was born April 22, 1935, to the late Rhyner and Martha (Allison) Arthur, in Perkins.  He was raised in and around the Perkins area where he also attended and graduated high school.

Tom married Dorothy June Brown on July 4, 1955, in Cushing. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. To this union four children were born —  Diann, Gayle, Rhyner, and Toma Lynn.

Tom worked in the oil field early in his career, then spent more than 45 years building 130 custom homes in the Payne County area for many who also became longtime friends. He was also an avid farmer and gardener raising vegetables, wheat, alfalfa and Brangus cattle on his farm. Tom was an active member of the Mehan Union Church.

Tom is survived by his wife, Dorothy, whom he loved very much and by his legacy: his children, Diann and Max Rudd, Gayle and Jay Davis, Rhyner and Jerri Arthur, and Toma Lynn and Ron Garst; grandchildren: Phillip and Tiffany Davis, Rebekah and Toby Tiner, Stephanie and Leach, Benton and Jennifer Rudd, Allison and Kyle Dollins, Rachel and Kyle McGee, Sarah and Shane Dean, Jamison Rudd, Caleb Arthur, David Garst, and Emily Garst; and great-grandchildren,  Seth, Savannah, and Esther Davis; JT, Audrey, Titus, and Samantha Tiner; Rhylan and Raygan Leach, and Tatum Dean.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Mehan Union Church food program as it was an important ministry to Tom. Donations may be sent in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075

Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com or on facebook at www.facebook.com/pmcfh.
