— Norman L. Nelson, beloved husband, father and granddad, died on Friday, July 12, 2013, at the age of 75. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, where there will be a graveside service for family members. Local arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

Mr. Nelson was born on June 23, 1938, in Battle Creek, Mich.  After graduating from Olivet College in Michigan, he went on to attend The University of Virginia where he earned his first master’s degree in history. In 1967, he met and married his wife, Judy, in Northampton, Mass.  He took a position as dean of men at Willamette University in Salem, Ore.  He then earned another master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Oregon.  In 1972, he brought his family to Stillwater, where he served as the associate dean of libraries at Oklahoma State University for 31 years. He has been a resident of Stillwater for the past 40 years.

He was predeceased by his parents.  He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Stillwater; two daughters, Nancy (Justin) Moore and Jennifer Nelson, and two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Ethan Moore, all of Tulsa, as well as his younger brother, Rolan R. (Jan) Nelson, and his nephew Dane Nelson and niece Karly Nelson, all of Stevensville, Mich.
