John Charles Whitmore, 97, passed away near Coyle, Okla.. No services will be held at this time. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John was born on Jan. 17, 1915 in Coyle, Okla., to James Charles and Carrie Isophene (Ellis) Whitmore. He attended school in Willow Springs, and later became a locksmith. He married Beatrice Goad in Sallisaw, Okla., on Nov. 1, 1963. He was a member of the Wolf Hunters Association. John loved the outdoors and hunting with his dogs.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers, and six sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beatrice Whitmore.
