Jessie May (Eyler) Schritter-Shields, a former Cushing resident, passed away on Dec. 16, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nev. at the age of 83 years.  

Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Okla., and will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing, Okla., with Rev. Larry Eslinger officiating.  Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park in Cushing, Okla.

The daughter of the late Ralph Eyler and Merl (Moore) Eyler, Jessie was born May 13, 1929, in Stillwater, Okla. and graduated from Sumner High School.

She worked at Swan Hose in Stillwater for several years and also drove a bus for the Perkins school system.  Jessie had been a member of the Mehan Union Church and a member of the Cushing VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Jessie was united in marriage to LeRoy Schritter and later married Jimmie “Sarge” Shields.  She loved growing her own flowers and watching birds and butterflies.  Jessie will be remembered as an avid OSU Cowboy fan.

In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie “Sarge” Shields, two sisters, Carol Tate and Charlene Westmoreland and two brothers, Roy Louis Eyler and Lefty Eyler.

Jessie is survived by her children, Katie Curtis and her husband David of Broken Arrow, Frank Schritter and his companion Camilla Stephens of Perkins, Linda Holstrom and her husband Bryan of Loveland, Colo., Tommye Woolley and her husband Chris of Tenn., and Esther Schritter of Talihina; one sister, Marybell; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
