Brenda Sue Golden-Bridge

Brenda Sue Golden-Bridge, 51, of Perkins, went to be with her Savior on Feb. 23 following a courageous and inspiring battle with kidney disease. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perkins and will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Liberty Church at 4524 E. 116th St., Perkins. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at New Zion Cemetery in Chandler.  Public visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Liberty Church in Perkins and the family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Brenda Sue Golden was born on Aug. 30, 1961, in Bonne Terre, Mo., to William and Thelma (Culton) Golden. She grew up and attended schools in Desloge, graduating from North County High School. Following her graduation, Brenda earned an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Northwest Bible College in Minot, N.D. She moved to Stillwater and began teaching preschool at the Perkins United Methodist Church, where she later served as director. In the mid-1990s, Brenda went to work as a dispatcher for the Iowa Nation Tribal Police Department. Brenda enjoyed her time working for the tribe and made many friends during her 12-year career. In 2009 she retired from the Iowa Tribe due to her failing health.

On Sept. 3, 2010, Brenda married her best friend and soul mate, Philip Bridge, in Perkins. Brenda and Philip were blessed with two amazing years of marriage and they were inseparable. They traveled all over Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas, enjoying every minute together.  They could often be seen holding hands and their love for one another held together, as they vowed on their wedding day, “through sickness and health,” and they were as in love on the day Brenda passed, as they were on the day they were married.

She enjoyed living life and she got as much enjoyment from her 51 short years as most people could get out of 100 years. Brenda loved road trips, collecting Coach purses and cookbooks, singing gospel music and hymns, keeping up with her friends on Facebook, and spending time spoiling her grandchildren. She also loved to play drop words on her tablet computer and she attended Liberty Church in Perkins when her health would allow her to do so.

Brenda was a selfless person who always put the needs of others before herself. She would do anything she could to help a friend in need. She was a positive and encouraging woman who kept an optimistic outlook, even while fighting a fierce battle with kidney disease. Brenda was a proud mother, a loyal wife, a loving grandmother, and a reliable friend. She will be missed by all those fortunate enough to call her a friend.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, a brother William David Golden, Jr., and her stepmother Rayma Golden. She is survived by her loving husband Philip Bridge, of the home; two sons, Joshua Hills and wife Kristin, of Perkins and Brandon Hills, of Stillwater,   two daughters, Darci Lollar and husband Eric, of Edmond, and Marissa Bridge of Edmond; two brothers,  Kenny and Michael Golden, and a sister Betty Golden, five grandchildren C.J. Lollar, Mary Lollar, Braxton Hills, Adelyn Hills, and Presley Hills. She is also survived by her uncle James Golden, her aunt Norma Ruth and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brenda’s name to Liberty Church or to the American Kidney Fund in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK, 74075.

Condolences can be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com or on facebook at www.facebook.com/pmcfh.
