Marilyn Joyce Steel, 73, passed away peacefully at her home in Stillwater. with family, Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, after a courageous eight year battle with cancer.
She was born to Joyce Clinton Steel and Jewel Caywood Steel on May 20, 1940 in Post, Texas.
Marilyn attended elementary through high school in Post, Texas, before attending Oklahoma State University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business education in 1966. She went on to receive her master’s degree in atudent personnel and counseling from OSU in 1991.
She retired from OSU-Tulsa in 2006, where she was employed as a student adviser.
Marilyn loved to travel with her friends, with Branson, Mo., being the destination of many of their trips. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and reading Janet Evanovich novels. She was a member of Lost Creek United Methodist Church in Stillwater.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joyce Clinton Steel in February 2011.
She is survived by her mother, Jewel Steel, Post, Texas; daughters, Lisa (and Don) Johnson, Stillwater; and Amy (and Troy) Case, Tulsa; grandchildren: Joshua (and Shanon) Garrido, Stillwater, William Konemann, Stillwater, and Nachel Konemann, Lubbock, Texas; and brother, Curtis (& Judy) Steel, Oracle, Ariz.. She also leaves behind numerous loving friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday at Justice-Mason Funeral Home in Post, Texas. The Rev. Scott Richards will officiate. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
