Sandra “Sammie” Kay Rosecrans of Stillwater passed away in her home Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012. She was born March 18, 1956 at Fort Carson, Colorado, to Donald J. Banks and Eneth “Sally” Randolph Banks.

She grew up in Stillwater, where she spent the majority of her life. After graduating from C.E. Donart High School in 1973, she followed in her parents’ footsteps by attending Oklahoma State University. She later earned her LPN at Meridian Technology Center. She loved working as a nurse before she became disabled.

It was also in Stillwater that she married the love of her life, Kevin Rosecrans, on May 23, 1997. He filled her life with joy even as her health declined.

She was a free spirit who enjoyed the simple pleasures of every day. She loved nature, especially the birds and flowers to which she tended daily. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and cousin.  

She is survived by her husband and parents, all of Stillwater; her brother, Michael Banks and wife, Anne Matoy, of Stillwater; two sons – Jackson Longan and wife, Kristie, of Oklahoma City, and Jacob Longan and wife, Jessica, of Stillwater; five grandchildren – Kaden and Kylor Ledgerwood of Cushing, Kreid Longan of Oklahoma City, and Taylor and Luke Longan of Stillwater; one great-granddaughter, Zoie Ledgerwood, of Cushing; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The memorial service will be conducted by Reverend Derrek Belase at 10 a.m. Saturday at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 524 N. Stallard. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
