Leslie Eugene McIntire

Leslie Eugene McIntire went to be with the Lord on Aug. 6, 2012.  Leslie was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hillhouse   McIntire; his brothers, Kenneth and A.C. McIntire; his sisters, Lorene and Irene Spurgeon; and parents, Lydia and Allen Williams.

Leslie was born in Yale, Okla., on Oct. 3, 1920. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Following the War, Leslie (known as Dutch to family and close friends) and Mary settled in Perkins, Okla. Leslie worked for Mid-Continent Pipeline in Drumright, Okla., until that company sold to Sunray DX. In 1955, Sunray DX transferred him to Ingleside, Texas where he worked until 1970. From 1970 to 1979 Leslie worked in various Texas locations until he retired in 1978 at the age of 58. Leslie & Mary retired to Lolita, Texas where he remained after her death until 1999 when he moved to Richmond, Texas. During the time they lived in Lolita, Leslie and Mary were active in First Assembly of God Church of Edna pastored by Rev. David Murff and his wife Peggy.

Leslie is survived by his five daughters: Betty Jo Thompson of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mary Frances White of Dallas, Texas, Roberta (Bobbie Jean) Evans-Garza of Conroe, Texas, Elaine Burcham and her husband Jack of Houston, Texas, and Gail Stotler of Richmond, Texas; eleven grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, and nineteen great-great grandchildren.

A viewing for family and friends is scheduled from 6 PM to 8 PM, Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Chapel, 3900 BF Terry Blvd, Rosenberg, TX.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater, Okla., before internment at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater, Okla. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you consider making a donation in Leslie’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for research for the cure to Parkinson’s disease at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, NY NY 10163-4777.
