Nina Faye Brandt

Funeral services for Nina Faye Brandt, an 88-year-old former Thomas resident, will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Bethany Brethren in Christ Church with James Rainwater officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery, southwest of Thomas, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Thomas. There will be a memorial service Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Westside Nazarene Church in Wichita, Kan.

Nina was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Thomas to Vernon Frymire Sr. and Mamie (Eyster) Frymire and passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2013, in Stillwater. Nina was raised and attended school in Thomas and graduated from Jabbok High School in 1942. On Oct. 5, 1944, she married Harvey Brandt in Thomas and made their home in the area. They later moved to Washington and California for a short time and returned to Thomas. The family lived in the Thomas and Custer City area from 1946 to 1960 when they moved to Hillsboro, Kan., and in 1970 moved to Wichita, Kan. Nina enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, sewing, making quilts, flowers especially roses, and volunteering at her church.

Nina is survived by daughters, Lois Stern and husband, Kenneth of Stillwater and Carol Cox and husband, Dale of Capitan, New Mexico; two sons, Larry Brandt and wife, Judy of Centerton, Ark., and Richard Brandt of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Donald Frymire and wife, Shirley of Abilene, Kan. and Vernon Frymire Jr. and wife, Grace of Thomas; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Jessi Brandt; and grandson, Aaron Stern.
