Doris Ann Cross, 72, passed away at Grace Living Center in Stillwater on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. A memorial service will be held in her honor at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater on Saturday at 2 p.m. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Doris was born on Aug. 3, 1940, to Robert Glenn and Verna (Glasscock) Duckwall in Stillwater.
She attended Stillwater Public Schools and Oklahoma State University where she majored in physical education. Her first teaching position was in Detroit, Mich. She married Marvin William Cross in 1962 and later divorced. In the 1990s she owned and operated Doris’ Weight Loss Center. She wrote and marketed nationally several weight loss cookbooks. She was well respected by her clients. She loved her dog, Sophie.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marylin Nelson; and her son, Marvin William “Billy” Cross II.
She is survived by her brother, George H. Duckwall, and his wife, Carol, and four nephews.
The family would like to thank the many people that supported her through the years, the staff at Grace Living Center and the Good Shepherd Hospice team.
