— David “Dave” M. Herring, 55, died on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in Stillwater.

Family will greet friends at Strode Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

His memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Fellowship Baptist Church, 220 N. B St., in Yale, with Brother Mike Dershem officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

On Feb. 12, 1958, Dave was born in Huntington Beach, Calif., to Bill Herring and Dorothy (Anderson) Spyres.

He graduated from Yale High School in the late 1970s, and started working as a driller in the oilfield.

He married Dixie Saunders in Yale on April 18, 1985. They lovingly raised five children together and enjoyed 28 years of marriage.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Spyres; sister, Karen Herring; and brother, Mike Herring.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Dixie Herring;  two sons, David Herring and Tommy Saunders; three daughters, Windy Crownover, Sabrina Richardson and Ashley Herring; seven grandchildren, Khalil and Dasia Richardson, Skyler, Cheyenne and Kelli Lozier, Chloë Herring, and Audrie Russell; one brother, Phillip Ingram; and two sisters, Kathy Tinnie and Kathy Elliott.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dave’s name to the American Lung Association at 1010 E. Eighth St., Tulsa, Okla., 74120.
