Josephine “Josie” Eleanor Murer

Josephine “Josie” Eleanor Murer, of Stillwater, passed from this life on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2013.  Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at the St. John’s University Parish in Stillwater with Father Stuart Crevcoure presiding. A Rosary will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow at a later date at Prospect Cemetery in Prospect, New York.

Josie was born on Feb. 7, 1922 to John Dailey and Josephine Dailey in Marcy, New York.  She grew up around the upstate New York area, and received her diploma from Rome Free Academy.  She spent much of her life working for the utility company as a word processor and technical writer, and was proud to be a part of Circuit Riders retirement group in Tulsa.  She was also a member of St. John’s University Parish and the Rebekah’s Olive Branch #37, as well as being a Stephen’s Minister.  In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, reading, and traveling.  She enjoyed arts and crafts especially around Christmas.  Josie also had a penchant for games and cards, and would almost never miss Wheel of Fortune.  She loved baseball, especially following her New York Yankees.  She also had a fondness for her cats.  However her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.

Josie is survived by her daughters, Joanne Murer of Stillwater and Janice Jillson of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; and son in law “Non” as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Josie was preceded in death by two children, Eileen Murer, and James Murer; and four brothers John, David, Jim, and Donald Dailey as well as sister, Cecilia LaTurner.

Memorial contributions may be made in Josie’s honor to the American Heart Association, or Judith Karmen Hospice.

Friends may leave condolences for the family via an online guestbook available at www.pmcfh.com or on our facebook page at www.facebook.com/pmcfh
