Michael Raymond Erwin, Sr., 57, of Perkins, died on Friday, May 10, 2013, in Houston, Texas. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Paradise Cemetery near Coyle. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Michael was born on July 27, 1955, in Yuba, Calif., to Cecil Raymond and Lora Adeline (Hulsey) Erwin. On Oct. 22, 1973, at Knottsberry Farms in Buena Park, Calif., he was married to Kathy Sue Kellogg. He worked as a mechanic from the time he was 16 until he was 31, and spent the majority of that time working at Goodyear on May Avenue in Oklahoma City. At 31, he franchised with Snap-On Tools and had a wonderful career for the next 20 years. From his retirement from Snap-On until his day of death, he worked for himself and helping others. Over his lifetime, he lived in Anaheim, Calif., Oklahoma City, Piedmont and Perkins. Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to the lake, skiing, racing, motorcycling, surfing, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He was honored during his life to become a successful businessman, enjoy 39 years of marriage, and watch all of his children graduate college.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Sue Erwin; children, Michael R. Erwin, Matthew R. Erwin and Lindsey N. Miller; grandchildren, Madeline, Wyatt, Max and Emma; and sisters, Kim K. Bleck and Lora E. Mueller. His family also runs deep with cousins, nephews, aunts, uncles and the Luster family.
The family would like to offer some words for comfort and guidance from Psalm 27, “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”
