Pauline Spyres Sharpton

Pauline Spyres Sharpton, 93, died on Thursday, May 16, 2013, in Denison, Texas. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19th at Strode Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Glencoe South Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline was born on Oct. 18, 1919 in Yale, to William Clark and Vica Lou (Cotterman) Spyres. She married Earl Earick Sharpton on Feb. 25, 1939, in Stillwater. They were happily married for 68 years before his death in 2007. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Pauline worked for Katz Department Store in the accounting department for 15 years. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary, The Royal Neighbors and Rebekah’s Lodge in Stillwater and the Senior Citizens Center. Her hobby was crafts and making holiday floral arrangements for her social clubs, including Project Heart in Stillwater and at the Pecan Point Assisted Living, her last residence in Denison, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Hubert Earl Sharpton; two brothers, Otto Jay Spyres and Lloyd Spyres; and one granddaughter, Laura Anne Ritter.

She is survived by her two daughters, Peggy Earlene Ritter and husband, Steve; Donna Kay Redwine and husband, Thomas; three grandchildren, Stephanie Denise Ritter Pickens and husband Bret, Timothy Jay Ritter and Karla Kay Redwine McConnell and husband Mark; seven great-grandchildren, Zackery Steven Ritter, Tyson Jay Ritter, Heath Riley Pickens, Chad Erick Pickens, Cassandra Kay Pickens, and Bailey Denae Ritter, Alexandra Kay McConnell and one brother, Don Spyres.

Pallbearers will include Zackery Ritter, Heath Pickens, Chad Pickens, Bret Pickens, and Steve Ritter. Tyson J. Ritter is an honorary pallbearer.
