Douglas Wayne Tessmann


Douglas Wayne Tessmann was born on Nov. 14, 1960, in Perry, the youngest son of Richard Tessmann and Barbara Gould.

He passed from this life on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, having reached the age of 48 years, 11 months and six days. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1978 and earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Oklahoma State University.

He met the love of his life, Janet Marie Creager, and they were united in marriage on June 4, 1982. The family unity was blessed with three children, Lindsey, J.D. and Sierra. Doug’s enjoyment and delight in life was the births of his three grandchildren, Ashton and A.J. Romero and Halli Tessmann.

He was a loving husband, caring dad, playful pe-paw, wonderful provider and a special friend to many. He always put others before himself and you could not ask for a more giving person. Janet never worried about a mistress, his only other love was the ’72 Pontiac Trans Am.

Besides spending time with his family he enjoyed going to cruise night and car shows. He was an active member of Black Top Motorsports in Stillwater.

He was employed by Armstrong World Industries for over 20 years. Doug was a friend to all that knew him and it only took moments to realize what a loving and giving person he was.

Doug is survived by wife Janet Tessmann, Pawnee; daughter Lindsey Romero and her husband, Ryan, Pawnee; son J.D. Tessmann and his wife, McKala, Pawnee; daughter Sierra Tessmann, Pawnee; parents Richard and Barbara Gould Tessmann, Perry; brother Mike Tessmann, Perry; grandchildren Ashton and A.J. Romero, Pawnee, Halli Tessmann, Pawnee; plus numerous other loving family members and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Marie Gould and his great-grandparents, Bill and Opal Bridges, Perry, Okla.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at the First Baptist Church, Pawnee, Okla. with the Rev. Tom Scott officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee.
