James “Jimmy” DiLeonardo

James “Jimmy” DiLeonardo, 53, of Stillwater passed from this life on May 9, 2013 in Stillwater.  Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a private family service will be held at a later date.

“Jimmy D” was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from John Marshall High School and soon after joined the USMC where he studied welding and specialized in underwater welding.  After his discharge, he stayed in San Clemente, Calif., married, had two daughters and later moved back to Ohio.

Years after his divorce, he headed out west to Arizona but his car broke down in Perry,  and he decided to stay “because the people were nice.”  He worked at the Perry Journal and eventually moved to Stillwater where he remained until his untimely death.  He worked for the city of Stillwater Sanitation Department and soon became the Coordinator for the Convenience Collection Center for recycling on Perkins Road.

Jimmy D is survived by his two daughters, Jenica Eder and Jenell DiLeonardo, both of High Point, N.C.; his three grandchildren, Cora, Logan and Alba; his mother, Marilyn DiLeonardo of Valley City, Ohio, and is preceded in death by his father, Frank DiLeonardo; survived by his brothers: Skipper DiLeonardo, Michael DiLeonardo and Anthony DiLeonardo and his sister, Paula (DiLeonardo) Young along with many nieces and nephews including great ones and many loving friends and adopted family.

Jimmy will be cremated and returned to his mother to be buried with his father at St. Martin’s of Tours Church in Valley City, Ohio.

Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com

In lieu of flowers, you can honor his memory by helping someone in need or someone who is unable to help themselves.  He had a generous spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
