Dwight Gammon

Dwight Gammon 58 of Stillwater passed from this life on Saturday, May 25, 2013, with his loving family by his side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday at Mehan Union Church. Interment will follow at Ingalls Cemetery.

Dwight was born on Nov. 24, 1954, in Pawnee to the late Delmar and Hazel (Dilley) Gammon. He attended school in Quay until transferring to Midwest City, where he finished his schooling. Following high school, Dwight married the love of his life Sandie Reisinger on March 4, 1973, at the Assembly of God Church in Stillwater. Dwight spent 33 years working every position imaginable at Dolese in Stillwater. In 2009, Dwight accepted a job as the manager of Wall’s Carpet Center.

Dwight enjoyed going for drives in the country with “his girls.” He valued his family, whom he had nicknamed “pain in the butt number 1 through number 5.”  He especially enjoyed fishing with Tammy, Sunday morning doughnuts with LaTresa, waiting up until 1 a.m for Crystal to get home from her high school activities, and lounging around the house watching TV with Sandie.  He prioritized his time with his girls and he taught them many life lessons that all girls should know, such as how to drive and how to make concrete.

While Dwight was comfortable on country roads, the same can’t be said about his ability to navigate in urban traffic. On the way to see his newborn granddaughter Rena in Houston, Dwight got lost and ended up in downtown Dallas.  Being a man and not wanting to ask for directions, Dwight picked a truck to follow through downtown hoping that it would lead him to the safety of South Dallas. Like so many things in Dwight’s life, it worked out well.

Dwight was a generous man who enjoyed helping others.  Friends could count on him to make them laugh, repair their problems, and to be their taxi driver when it snowed.  He loved to mow because it gave him time to think.  He also enjoyed studying history, playing pranks, building things for others, and making friends.  He was truly a man with no enemies and his smile could lighten even the darkest of days.  Dwight will be missed by all who knew him.

Dwight is survived by his wife Sandie of the home, daughters Tammy Major of Stillwater, Crystal Gammon of Stillwater and LaTresa Gammon of Stillwater, and a granddaughter Rena Major.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles.

Condolences can be sent to the family via an online guestbook  at www.pmcfh.com.
