— Wesley James Sharpton, 26, died on Friday, May 3, 2013, in Kansas City, Kan. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wesley was born on Oct. 19, 1986, in Stillwater, to James and Donna Jean (Guy) Sharpton. After graduation, he joined the United States Army, but, due to health complications, he was honorably discharged shortly afterward. He worked as a dry wall installer at Huerta’s Drywall. Wesley enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing blackjack and camping, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his nephews. He was also an avid fan of University of Kansas basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Don Guy, of Enid; grandparents, Richard and Sylvia Spaulding of Arcadia; and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Asuncion Huerta and Mr. and Mrs. James Sharpton, all of Stillwater.

He is survived by his parents of Linwood, Kan.; brother, Anthony S. Sharpton; grandparents, Dr. James and Dr. Lois Sharpton, of Pitkin, Colo.; grandparents, Mary and Max Burckalter, of Enid; nephews, Ayden and Steven Sharpton; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
