Mattie Louise Bell Bishoff, daughter of Frank and Josephine Bell, passed away peacefully on Thursday Oct. 4, 2012.
Service: The family held a memorial service on Monday Oct. 8, 2012.
Mattie was born June 21, 1921 in Quay, Okla. She grew up there and graduated from Quay HS in 1939. When World War II broke out she joined the war effort by enlisting in the WACS and spent her Army service at Ft. Hood, Texas. After the war ended she lived in Mich., N.J. and Ga. before returning to live in Stillwater, Okla. in 1993. In 2009 Mattie moved to Weatherford, Texas to be closer to her family.
Her hobbies included reading, working crossword puzzles, keeping in touch with friends and following NFL football with a passion.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Josephine Bell; and brother, James Bell.
Survivors: son, James Barfield and wife, Linda of Hudson Oaks, Texas; grandchildren, David Barfield and his wife, Keri of Weatherford, Texas, Kathyrine Dunham and her husband, Dan of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jordan Johnson of San Antonio, Texas and Allison Johnson of Long Beach, Calif.
