Lee Bell

Lee Bell, 80, passed away in Stillwater, Okla. on Oct. 20, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Okla. Dr. Leo Presley will preside. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lee was born on Jan. 22, 1932 in Rogers, Ark., to Loyd and Lola (Blackburn) Bell. He married Ila Faye Jordan in Stillwater, Okla. on Jan. 26, 1954. Lee graduated from Oklahoma A&M College in 1955 and served in the Army during peace time from 1956 to 1958 achieving the rank of private, first class. He was the editor for the Muskogee Phoenix and Times from 1955 to 1962 before returning to Stillwater to join the Stillwater NewsPress where he served first as the managing editor and later as the special editor until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Kiwanis Club in which he served as president from 1972-1973. Lee also attended Eagle Heights Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Lola Bell.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ila Faye Bell; his son, David Bell, of Stillwater; and his daughter, Carolyn Bell Causley, of Stillwater.
