Eleanor (“Ellie”) A. DeGeorge

Eleanor (“Ellie”) A. DeGeorge, 78, of Stillwater passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 after a brief illness. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, Nov. 7th at Strode Funeral Home from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be held in her honor following the visitation beginning at 8:00 p.m. in the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8th at the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Harder officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Erie, Pa., the daughter of Amelia (Cromick) and Joseph (Bulo). She was a graduate of the Class of 1951 at Strong Vincent High School in Erie, Pa., where she was active in A Capella choir and cheerleading.

She was also Class Secretary and a commencement speaker. After high school, she worked as a bookkeeper for Time Square Motors.

Ellie married Anthony “Skip” DeGeorge on June 30, 1956. She was a dedicated Wife, Mother and Grandmother who supported her husband as they moved the family of seven children to seven different states to further his career. She was a warm, thoughtful person who was devoted to her family and her Catholic faith.

In recent years, Ellie enjoyed traveling with her husband, sister, Mary Ann and her husband Jerry throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. She and Skip were Mobile Meals volunteers for seven years and also did meal delivery to the Adult Day Life Center for five years. They were also charter members of the Total Health Fitness Center since 2002 where after honing her Zumba skills Ellie became “The Zumba Queen”.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Anthony “Skip” DeGeorge and her seven children – Dr. Michael (Colby) of Flourtown, Pa., Suzanne and fiancee John Haworth of Newburyport, Mass., Gregory of Edmond, Steven (Cynthia) of Owasso, John (Lori) of Stillwater, David of Oklahoma City and Jennifer of Westminster, Colo., and seven grandchildren, Dr. Joan (Sam Nordberg), Dr. Antonia McClune (Kyle), Christopher, Jamie, Liberty, Zachary and Gabriella.

She is further survived by her siblings, Joseph of Camp Hill, Pa., Pauline Borczon of Detroit, Mich., Mary Ann (Jerry) Pelkowski of Erie, Pa., and Catherine (Robert) Schwitzer of Katy Texas, as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.
