Lucy Duvall (Dugee) Burton Simmons Daugherty went to Heaven on Oct. 18, 2012, surrounded by her  family at the age of 97.       Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Strode Funeral Home chapel in Stillwater  Interment will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell, Okla.  Strode    Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Duvall was born in Wichita, Kan., on Aug. 9, 1915, to Gomer and Anna Letti Sanford Burton.  The family moved to Tulsa in 1923 and Duvall attended Wilson Jr. High and Central High School.  On May 2, 1936 Duvall married Clement M. Simmons and they spent the evening dancing at the Cain’s Ballroom.  Their first home was in Barnsdall, Okla.  

Mom began her professional career with Avon and in 1961 became the Manager of Blackwell Junior High Cafeteria.  Cooking was one of Mom’s passions and she was able to travel to Vegas, Boston, and Hawaii by selling cinnamon rolls for a nickel.   Mom received her GED in 1972.  She retired in 1982 as Manager of Stillwater High School Cafeteria and was known by many as Miss Dugee.

In retirement, Mom supported the Stillwater Medical Center by being a volunteer and made many an egg sandwich and malt in the coffee shop for 10+ years.  On Dec. 26, 1985, Lucy married Jack Daugherty and showing their support for OSU football, they honeymooned at the Gator Bowl.  Mom and Jack spent many wonderful hours attending OSU football, basketball, wrestling and baseball.  To help support Eastern Star, Amaranth, and the Masonic Order, Mom parked cars before the football games at 6th and Duck.  Mom was honored to have served twice as Worthy Matron for the Order of the Eastern Star.  

Mom was a devoted member of the 1st Methodist Church in Barnsdall, Pampa, Blackwell and Stillwater.  She also had a great love for the Senior Citizen Center where she spent many hours playing bridge.

Mom was very fortunate to enjoy living in her home until last November with the support of her family and the staff of Stillwater Medical Center Home Services.  Since then Mom enjoyed her apartment in Tulsa, where she looked forward to bingo and dining out on weekends with her family.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands, Clement and Jack; her brother, James Burton, son-in-law Jerry Corn, and daughter-in-law Judy Blan.

 Mom is survived by her children, Charles and wife, Phyllis, of Tulsa; Gay Corn of Burleson Texas; and Rhea Simmons of Tulsa; and Jack’s son-in-law, Kenneth Blan of Antlers, Okla.  Mom was blessed with many grandchildren, Kelleigh Simmons, Steve Corn, Roger Corn, Chuck Simmons, Brenda Underwood, Kenny Blan,  DeAnne Fortenberry, Linda Cook and Joe Blan plus a multitude of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mom’s memory to the 1st United Methodist Church, 400 W. 7th Stillwater, OK 74074 or Senior Citizen Center, 1015 E. 12th Street, Stillwater, Ok 74074.
