Vivian Nadine Rieman

Vivian Nadine Rieman, 86, of Perry passed peacefully from this life on July 26, 2013, with her family by her side.  Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry and a funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, east of Perry. Public visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and the family will greet friends from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Vivian was born on Oct. 1, 1926 in Cushing, to Herbert Stanton White and Hazel McDaniel White.  She attended grade school at Windy Center before graduating from Sumner High School. Just a few days after her 21st birthday, she married the love of her life, Henry “Hinie” Rieman at the Zion Lutheran Church. Vivian spent her life as a housewife and mother. She assisted Hinie with various farming activities, but her top priority was raising her children and twin granddaughters Amy Rieman Pope and Jamie Reiman.

Vivian was an active lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She understood the value of hard work and she spent countless hours baking pies, cookies, and cakes for church, school, and community activities. She worked tirelessly on organizing the Sumner school reunions and she was a longtime member of the Sumner Fire Department Auxiliary. Vivian Rieman was a kind and generous woman who possessed a quiet strength. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a caring grandmother, and a trusted friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Westhaven Nursing Center in Stillwater for the wonderful care they showed Vivian for the past 2.5 years and to the caring and compassionate  staff at Good Shepherd Hospice.

She is survived by her  children, Phillip Rieman and wife, Julia of Enid, and  Judith Schroeder and husband Mike of Stillwater, stepdaughter, Sharleen Hamilton and husband Dick of Cedaredge, Colo.; four sisters, Phyllis White, Pat Noland, and Florence Akin of Stillwater, and Frances White of Tulsa; sister-in-law, Juanita Gerken of Perry; brother-in-law, Bill Rieman and wife, Imogene of Barnsdall; sister-in-law, Nettie Rieman of Perry;  twin granddaughters, Jamie Rieman of  Enid, and Amy Pope and her husband, Shawn of Owasso;  and nine great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Hinie” Rieman; her parents, Herbert and Hazel White; a sister, Vera Sooter; and a brother, John White. Condolences may be sent using our online guestbook at www.perrycares.com.
