Lucy May Brown

Lucy May Brown, 95, of Coyle, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center, in Oklahoma City.  She was born Feb. 4, 1918, to Jesse James and Amanda (Abrams) Phillips.

Lucy worked at various jobs, including a cook at Viola’s Café; was a butcher in several grocery stores in Coyle; was a truck driver delivering furniture throughout the states of Okla., Ark., Texas and Kan.; and her last job was as a housekeeper supervisor at the OSU Student Union.

She also did farming most of her life in addition to working outside of the home.

Lucy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coyle. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Elmer, one sister, two brothers and one son.

Lucy is survived by two sons, Elmer R. Jr (Monta Lynn) of Perkins,Okla., Elvin “Buster” (Charlotte) of Coyle, Okla.; two daughters, Marilee Randall of Sapulpa, Okla., Betty Phillips (LaRue) of Coyle, one brother, John Phillips of Guthrie and one sister, Alice Duncan of Stillwater, daughter-in-law Alice Brown, Sisters in law Cathy Phillips and Judy Phillips.

She is also survived by 40 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

Lucy enjoyed her family and they meant the world to her.  She was a very loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister.  Lucy will be missed by all who knew her.

Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, from 9:30 until 7:00 p.m. and the morning of the service.

Condolences may be emailed to the family at okcommunityfh@att.net. or cards may be mailed to 1624 N. Pine, Guthrie, 73044.
