Donald M. Twedell

    Donald M. Twedell passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012. He was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Oct. 5, 1930, to Dr. and Mrs. Donald L. Twedell. He        graduated from New Haven High School in Mo., in 1948 and attended the University of Missouri and Northwest Missouri State. There he was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity and the varsity basketball and baseball teams. He played professional baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirate organization.

Don married Shirley Ate Jennings in 1951 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in Jan. of 1952, being discharged in 1955. Following his discharge Don entered the men's clothing industry, working in retail and as a sales        representative.

In 1968, Don and Linda Ann were married in Denver, Colo., and the family moved to Stillwater in 1971. He continued in the clothing business until ill health forced his retirement in 1994.

Don is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Valerie Hoover and her husband Rod, daughter Christie, and son Cory. There are four grandchildren and one great-grandson, who mourn the passing of their “Big Daddy”.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Judith Karman Hospice, 915 S. Main, Stillwater, OK 74074, or Norman Veterans Center, P.O. Box 1668, Norman, OK 73070.

There will be a celebration of Don's life in the Twedell home, 5223 W. Country Club Drive, Stillwater, OK, on Sunday, Sept. 30, anytime from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m., for friends and family.
