Violet Jane Scoggins

Violet Jane died of complications of her premature birth on Saturday in Oklahoma City. In her short life, she was a constant joy to her family and caregivers who noted her easy temperament and strong character. She taught her family the bittersweet lessons of love, patience, and letting go. She will be missed and was remembered in a beautiful memorial ceremony at First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater on Oct. 2.
Violet is survived by her parents, Lee Scoggins and Dr. Jennifer Ferrell; older brother, Larkin, and twin brother, Jensen; grandparents, Dennis and Judy Ferrell of Stillwater, John and Laura Scoggins of Rydal, Ga., and Chris and Janet Barrington of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; great-grandmothers, Elva Ferrell, of Midwest City, Okla., and Ellen “NuNu” Scoggins, of Bradenton, FL; as well as multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and family.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be considered in Violet’s name to the National Fragile X Foundation (www.fragilex.org), or to the OSU Child Development Lab “Growing the Future” Endowment at the OSU Foundation (Account number 27-93400) at 400 S. Monroe, Stillwater, OK 74074.
