Lester Sumner Stokes, Jr., 69, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 6, 2012. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Okla., with Chester Garringer officiating. Interment will be at Glencoe Cemetery. Strode funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Lester was born on Sept. 12, 1943 in Stillwater, Okla., to Lester and Beula (Donahoo) Stokes. He graduated from Glencoe schools before joining the U.S. Army in May 1967. He proudly fought for his country in the Vietnam War. Lester received many honors for his time served. He made his living as a farmer alongside his father. Lester also found enjoyment as an auctioneer and turned it into a business. Working long hours in the field and running his own business with his son didn’t keep him from being a devoted husband, father, papa, and friend.

In his retirement Lester finally had time to enjoy his true love of fast cars. Lester was a member of the Oklahoma Camaro Car Club. He enjoyed entering car shows and enjoyed winning even more!

He is preceded in death by his parents, Beula E. Stokes and Lester S. Stokes, Sr.

He is survived by Debbie, wife of the home; daughters, Toi Stokes, and husband, Chris, and their children, Justin and Erik, Pilare’ Simon, and LaTecia Burton, and her children, Jonna and Ta’Neele; sons, James Stokes, and Jeff Stokes, and wife, Toni, and their children, Beau, Justine, Jordan, Jamie, and Jason.

Pallbearers will include Jordan Gorath, Walter Weide, Rusty Cavett, Jason Cavett, Vern Heddleston, and Mark Tillman.
