Lan Lee Leader

Lan Lee Leader, 70, died on Saturday, June 29, 2013, in Stillwater. His memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tulsa.

Lan was born in Joplin, Mo., on Jan. 23, 1943, to the late Clifford and Marie (Records) Leader. After graduating high school in Anderson, Mo., he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served during the Vietnam War. On Feb. 5, 1970, Lan married Patricia Lee Miller. Together they lovingly raised two amazing daughters, and enjoyed 43 years of marriage. For 34 years, Lan was a systems engineer for American Airlines and SABRE. He was an avid Corvette owner and was involved with the Tulsa Vette Set and Corvettes of Enid. After retirement, Lan enjoyed taking his dog Heidi for long walks, contributing countless miles to his treadmill, gardening, working on special projects around the house, cruising in his Corvette with his wife/friends/groups, and spending time with his family.

Throughout his life, Lan would go out of his way to help others. He was dubbed “MacGyver” by his son-in-laws for his ability to fix anything.  He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Stillwater and most recently rededicated himself to the Lord our Savior. Lan was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, co-worker and friend that touched the lives of many people. He was loved and will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Leader.

Lan is survived by his wife, Patricia Leader, of Stillwater; daughter, Tricia Rumph, her husband, Brad, and their two children, Alexander and Addison, of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Alyson Dawson, her husband, Jace, and their son, Rhett, of Stillwater; and three sisters, Earlene Friend, of Wyandotte; Gay Bess, of Winter Springs, Fla., and Gayle Venable, of Anadarko.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lan’s name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at 230 E. Ohio St., Suite 304, Chicago, Ill., 50511-3201.
