Patricia Lee McDonald, 66, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2013, in Stillwater.  Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Southern Heights United Methodist Church in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pat was born on April 10, 1946, to Warren and Gertrude Tyler in Los Angeles, Calif..During her younger years, she served her country in the United States Marine Corps. Pat, better known to everyone as mom or Nana, loved life and cherished every moment and adventure. She always said she had many accomplishments in life, but her greatest were her children.

Although born and raised in California., Pat always called Stillwater home. She raised her kids in Stillwater, and after living in Arizona, briefly, brought them home in 1995. She enrolled at Oklahoma State University, graduating in 2003 with a degree in writing. She worked in the Edmond Low Library catalog department at OSU until retiring in 2006 due to illness.

Pat founded the Stillwater Skateboard Society and helped create the Stillwater Skate Park, giving kids a safe place to skate without getting into trouble. All of her children’s friends called her mom and her house was always open to anyone who needed guidance or a place to live. Even after all of the kids in her life had grown and moved out, they continued to lean on her for guidance and wisdom.

She enjoyed each and every one of her grandchildren and had a special bond with each one. Pat was an amazing, strong woman who inspired everyone she met. Her courage, strength, and wisdom will live on forever in the hearts and memories of her kids, grandkids, and everyone whose life she touched.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Gertrude Tyler.

She is survived by her kids, Paige Jones of Perkins; Christy Shores and husband, Jared, of Stillwater; David McDonald and girlfriend, Molly Clark, of Stillwater; Michael McDonald and fiancee, Jennifer Wheeler, of Stillwater, and Daniel McDonald and wife, Debora, of Stillwater; her grandkids, Jonathan Jones, Dean Polston, Cherokee Jones, Ayanna Shores, Kyra Shores, Taya Shores, and Eden McDonald; and her brother, Richard Tyler of Colorado.
