Lowell Eugene Walters, 91, died Nov. 9, 2010 in Stillwater, Okla. His funeral will be held 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Stillwater, Okla. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lowell was born on Jan. 13, 1919 to Wiley Walters and Pearl Dautel in Freedom, Okla. He married Pauline Graham on June 7, 1942 in Verden, Okla.
Lowell earned degrees at Oklahoma A&M College and the University of Massachusetts, and was an instructor at those institutions of learning along with Louisiana State University.
He returned to Oklahoma State University in 1946 for 32 years at which time he retired. He held a. full professorship for 20 years and specialized in Animal Science. Lowell retired in 1984.
Dr. Walters was a recipient of many awards during his career at OSU, while serving as a leader and active member of professional organizations and Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline, of the home; one son, Roger E. Walters and wife, Barbara, of Olivebridge, N.Y.; one daughter, Jan Zaloudek and husband, Joe, of Tulsa, Okla.; three grandsons, Chris Walters, Mike Walters, and Joe Zaloudek, Jr.; and three great grandchildren.
