A private family burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City.  A viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary North in Oklahoma City.

He spent 26 years with the Bovaird Oilfield Supply Co., retiring as a company vice president in 1983. He then owned and operated VEPCO in Oklahoma City, retiring from this venture at age 75 in 2002.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Nina; son, Michael; brothers, Red, LeeRoy, Ralph, Jack, and Johnnie; and sisters Beulah, Ruth, and Rena.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; two sisters, Reba Burton and Maybell Russell; sister-in-law Betty McKnight; stepchildren Bobby and Dayna Simma, Steve and Jacklyn Simma, Nelson and Lori Allen, and Denise and Russell Pickrel; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Gideons, International at P.O. Box 140880, Nashville, TN 37214 or to the Ripley Former Students and Teachers Scholarship Fund at P.O. Box 362, Ripley, Oklahoma 74062.
