OUR VIEW: Boomer Blast a success

STILLWATER, Okla. — The night sky of Stillwater lit up last weekend, concluding another successful and entertaining Independence Day celebration.

The annual Boomer Blast got off to an early-morning start as anglers tested their skills in a fishing tournament at Boomer Lake.

Hundreds of people turned out Saturday night to picnic, play games, listen to music and watch an impressive fireworks show.

A new tradition seems to have started with the addition of 12 food trucks stationed along a park road next to the lake to sell their wares. With the popularity of the vendors, chances are good that even more food trucks will be involved in the event next year.

The Fourth of July is all about celebrating our independence as a nation. And what better way to celebrate our birthday than fishing, hot dogs, good music and a fireworks show?
