STILLWATER, Okla. — The city of Stillwater is conducting an online survey to determine how residents view Stillwater. The survey takes about 10 minutes, and will be used to help the City Council, staff and a consulting firm brand Stillwater.

There are multiple choice, scale of 1-to-10 and a few questions that require a short paragraph or two written responses.

Branding is essentially a short phrase that reflects your product — in this case Stillwater. Stillwater Mayor John Bartley said Stillwater officials came up with the idea after they saw the success of Oklahoma State University’s branding campaign: Oklahoma State University — The Brightest Orange.

A branding campaign will help the city and Stillwater Chamber of Commerce recruit business and industries to Stillwater, business and industry recruiters say.

The survey does make you think about Stillwater’s challenges and opportunities. You can find the survey at the city of Stillwater’s website at

We encourage everyone to set aside 10 minutes to take the survey. You could help Stillwater grow, and it helps define your feelings about the community in which you live. This is your defining moment.
