STILLWATER, Okla. — The OSU/A&M Board of Regents will discuss Oklahoma State University's conference future at a special meeting Wednesday, university officials announced.

The board will hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday to discuss "matters relating to athletic conference membership," officials announced in a release Monday.

The meeting will be held in Click Family Alumni Hall at OSU's ConocoPhillips Alumni Center.

In the release, OSU President Burns Hargis said he was pleased the board would be taking up the matter.

"Oklahoma State has attractive options, and we are working with our colleagues at the University of Oklahoma to make sure the best interests of both institutions and our state are achieved," Hargis said. "We will be prepared at the appropriate time to take whatever steps are necessary for Oklahoma State. The OSU Regents share our desire to see this matter resolved as soon as possible.”

Board Chairman Jay Helm said in the release that the board hoped to see the best possible outcome from the situation.

“We have been kept informed by President Hargis, who has been actively and deeply involved in discussions for several weeks," Helm said. "We have called this special meeting of the Board to discuss conference affiliation.  We appreciate the strong leadership of President Hargis to ensure the best interest of Oklahoma State is represented in any and all discussions concerning conference alignment.”

The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents was expected to discuss OU's future with the Big 12 at a meeting Monday and Tuesday in Claremore.
