STILLWATER, Okla. —
Second-ranked Chris Perry, who lost a close 4-2 decision to Howe in the first Bedlam dual, took the slight personal and pinned OU replacement Derek Geiges in the first period. Perry took just under two minutes to record the fall.
"It was probably the coach's decision, and it is what it is. You're frustrated, but there's nothing you can do," Perry said. "... We've had people dodge us since we were little kids and you deal with that stuff. He wasn't dodging me, it was just part of their lineup where they were dealing with injuries."
Instead, Howe faced Jordan Rogers in the 184-pound bout. The No. 1-ranked wrestler at 174 took care of Rogers with ease for a 9-2 decision.
The Sooners won their third bout of the dual at 197 pounds with fourth-ranked Travis Rutt escaping Oklahoma State's Nolan Boyd with a 9-4 decision.
"We were obviously outmatched in several ways. I think the takeaway is that we have a lot of work to do," OU coach Mark Cody said. "Even the guys that came out with wins today have work to do and that's something that never stops at this level."
In the heavyweight match, OSU's Austin Marsden got a couple of takedowns against OU's Zach Merrill to earn an 8-2 decision to cap the 29-9 victory for the Cowboys.
