STILLWATER, Okla. —
According to a report from Yahoo! Sports late Tuesday, Oklahoma State freshman point guard Marcus Smart will be returning to Stillwater for his sophomore season.
Earlier Tuesday, OSU sent out a release that the men’s basketball program would be holding a press conference at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Atrium at OSU’s Student Union. Speculation began flying that it was for Smart, who was deciding whether to stay at OSU or declare for the NBA Draft where he is projected to be top 5 pick. Smart was named the Big 12 Conference Freshman and Player of the Year and on Monday night received his national Wayman Tisdale Freshman of the Year award during a banquet in Oklahoma City, where he said he still had not decided whethere he would be staying in Stillwater or leaving for the NBA.
Further reports came out that teammates Markel Brown and Le’Bryan Nash were to be a part of the press conference — and they, too, were likely to return. Brown and Nash had requested information from the NBA in regards to their draft prospects, but most mock drafts did not have either player being drafted.
