CHAMPAIGN, Ill. —
The Oklahoma State women’s tennis doubles team of Malika Rose and Kanyapat Narattana dropped its match against the nation’s second-ranked doubles team of USC’s Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria on Friday afternoon in Champaign, Ill.
The Cowgirl duo defeated Augustina Eskenazi and Sonya Latycheva of Pennsylvania, 6-4, 6-3, in its first round match on Thursday to advance to the round of 16, but was outmatched by Christian and Santamaria, falling 6-3, 6-2.
“I am proud of these girls for their high level of play all season,” Cowgirl tennis coach Chris Young said. “To be one of the top 16 doubles teams in the nation is an accomplishment and shows the development in their game during the season. We appreciate all that Malika has done for our program and I am excited for Kanyapat to use this experience next year.”
Rose and Narattana finish the year with a 15-15 overall record. The tandem knocked off six ranked doubles teams during the 2012-13 season. Rose and Narattana were the first Cowgirl doubles team since 2002 to represent Oklahoma State in the NCAA doubles tournament.
