Oklahoma State men's golf team comes up short at NCAAs

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — The Oklahoma State men’s golf team dropped 18 strokes from its second round, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Cowboys season alive as they failed to advance to match play, finishing tied for 14th at the NCAA Championships Thursday at Capital City Club’s Crabapple Course.

Led by a trio of 68s from Ian Davis, Talor Gooch and Jordan Niebrugge, the Cowboys carded the second lowest round of the day with a 275, moving them up 11 spots into a tie for 14th with Texas Tech. Davis also finished tied for eighth overall with a three-day total of 205.

California won the stroke play portion with a 16-under total of 824. Max Homa also captured the individual stroke play title for the Golden Bears by firing a 66 in his final round to finish with a 9-under total of 201.
