STILLWATER, Okla. —
Oklahoma State aims to keep a perfect record after their Big 12 opener.
The Oklahoma State women’s basketball team will host rival Texas at 7 p.m. Thursday. OSU has gone 7-10 all time in Big 12 openers and has lost its last three. Admission is free for the Cowgirls game.
OSU has opened up conference play with Texas three times. The Cowgirls split against Texas in 1997-1998 at home and fell at Austin in 2003.
Oklahoma State is only one of seven teams in the nation that is still without a loss. The Cowgirls hope to keep it that way after Thursday night.
OSU’s 11-0 start is tied for the best start in school history. Last season the Cowgirls also had the same 11-0 start.
The Cowgirls come into Big 12 play as the nations top team in field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 30.4 percent. The Cowgirls are also ranked second in 3-point percentage defense with their competition shooting just a 21.1 percentage.
Texas comes into the matchup at 9-3. Texas is riding on a three game winning streak but is just 1-1 on the road this season.
Nneka Enemkpali is Texas’ leader with 14.3 points a game and 8.4 rebounds a game.
The series between the two teams is owned by Texas with a 25-13 record against OSU. In recent years the Cowgirls have won four of the last five meetings and 10 of the last 15.
OSU at home won four straight against Texas.
