STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Oklahoma State men's basketball team rolled to an 81-58 victory Sunday over Portland State in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
"We kind of did what we were supposed to do," OSU coach Travis Ford said. "I thought there were a lot of good points that we could learn from and get better at. Go back to when we put the schedule together; we wanted a week off after Puerto Rico to learn who we were and work on things, but that didn't really work out at all the way we planned. We didn't get anything done this week at practice because we didn't have enough bodies."
The Cowboys were led by Markel Brown, who scored a game-high 23 points in 33 minutes of action. Brown went 10 for 14 from the field — including making three of his four attempts from 3-point range.
Sophomore forward Le'Bryan Nash also had 20 points for the Pokes, while freshman Phil Forte chipped in with 15 points off the bench.
Next up for the Cowboys is a trip to Blacksburg, Va., to face Virginia Tech at 1 p.m. Saturday.
"Glad to get out of it with a win, and now we've got another week off, even though I wish we could keep playing because of numbers," Ford said. "Hopefully we can get (Michael) Cobbins back at some point this week, and maybe even (Marek) Soucek back. So that will help at practice a little bit, but we'd much rather be playing games right now."
