KANSAS CITY —
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Three Oklahoma State players have been named to the 2012 NSCAA All-Central Region team, it was announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Goalkeeper AD Franch was named to the All-Central Region First Team, while forward Megan Marchesano and defender Carson Michalowski were third-team selections. All three players were seniors for the Cowgirls last season.
With her selection, Franch becomes the first player in OSU history to earn NSCAA All-Central Region First Team honors four times. A three-time NSCAA All-American, the Salina, Kan. native capped her record-setting career this fall, starting all 20 games for the Cowgirls and recording six shutouts, 79 saves and a 1.07 goals against average. Her 38 career shutouts are an OSU record and rank sixth all time in NCAA history.
Marchesano earned All-Central Region honors for the first time in her career as she led OSU in scoring in her final collegiate season with 11 goals and three assists. She ranked fourth in the Big 12 Conference in goals and tied for the league lead with five game-winning goals. A native of Bixby, Okla., Marchesano finishes her career ranked fifth on the Cowgirls’ all-time goals list with 28 and also among the top 10 in assists (17), points (73) and shots (173).
Michalowski is now a three-time All-Central Region performer after having earned second-team accolades in 2010 and 2011. She becomes just the fifth OSU player to earn NSCAA all-region honors three times, joining Franch, Yolanda Odenyo, Kasey Langdon and Melinda Mercado. An anchor on some of the top defenses in school history from her center back spot, Michalowski helped the Cowgirls post six shutouts and a 1.11 goals against average in 2012, and she also notched a pair of goals. She started 92 games in her career, and OSU recorded 48 shutouts in those games.
