OSU baseball sweeps UMass

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State completed a four-game series sweep of Massachusetts on Sunday with an 11-0 win at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

Brad Propst tossed a complete game in his first career start and four different Cowboys turned in multiple-RBI performances as OSU improved to 8-2 on the season.

Propst was in control throughout as the junior right-hander scattered seven hits while striking out three and issuing only one walk.

He threw just 98 pitches, 69 for strikes, and easily topped his career-long outing of 52⁄3 innings to earn his first win of the season.

OSU scored its first runs of the day in the second inning. With two outs, Dean Green doubled to left, and Dane Phillips followed with a double of his own to make the score 1-0. Up next, Kevin David singleed for the Cowboys’ second run.

The Cowboys doubled their lead in the fourth. Phillips, who was 4-for-4 in the game, drove in his second run with a single, and David’s second RBI single of the day made it 4-0.

OSU put the game away with multiple runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

A two-run home run by Green, his second round tripper of the weekend, was the big blow in the sixth, while David had a two-RBI double in the seventh.

Mark Ginther capped OSU’s scoring with his team-leading third homer of the season in the eighth, a two-run blast over the left field wall.

David finished the game 3-for-3 with a game-high four RBIs, while Green, Phillips and Ginther each collected a pair of RBIs.

OSU returns to midweek action Tuesday when the Cowboys open a two-game series against Western Illinois at Reynolds Stadium.
