NEW: Oklahoma State men's basketball player Phillip Jurick suspended from team

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State men's basketball player Phillip Jurick has been suspended indefinitely after violating team rules.

Coach Travis Ford announced that Jurick will not travel with the Cowboys as they begin their 10-day exhibition tour to Spain starting Wednesday. Ford also said a final decision on Jurick's status with the team will be made once more information is obtained.

Jurick was charged Monday with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He plead not guilty to the misdemeanor charges Monday and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 20.

Jurick started 16 of the 27 games he played for Oklahoma State before injuries ended his season. He averaged 1.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in those games.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
