STILLWATER, Okla. —
Last Saturday’s victory against Iowa State was notable as coach Mike Gundy became Oklahoma State University’s winningest coach with his 63rd career win. The victory also was the first time the Cowboys won consecutive games this season since their three-game winning streak.
OSU’s previous winning streak included its 44-10 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners on Dec. 3 last year, 41-38 Fiesta Bowl victory over Stanford last January and the 84-0 season opening victory against Savannah State. Junior linebacker Caleb Lavey said it was a big getting a winning streak.
“It was good to get the win under our belt,” Lavey said. “We haven’t arrived by any means. We are still pushing ourselves to get better. TCU is a really good football team. We are going to have to show up and beat them.”
In the last four seasons, the Cowboys have had at least four winning streaks of at least five games, including an 11-game winning streak — starting with the 2010 Alamo Bowl victory over Arizona and ended with the overtime loss at Iowa State last November.
