Cowgirls jump eight spots to 12th in final round of NCAA Championship

ATHENS, Ga. — Oklahoma State saved its best for last and propelled itself into the top 15 of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship at University of Georgia Golf Course.

The Cowgirls, which started the final round in 20th, shot the third-lowest collective round of the day to surge to a 12th-place finish — a mere two strokes shy of a top 10 finish.

Junior Josephine Janson recorded OSU's only sub-par round of the tournament on Friday with a 1-under 71 to boost her final standings to a tie for 42nd. The best overall finish for the Cowgirls, however, came from freshman Julie Yang who ended her first semester of college golf with a top 20 finish — finish in a tie for 17th after shooting 74 in the final round.

Kelsey Vines wrapped up her college career with her second straight round of 75 to finish in a tie for 80th — just ahead of teammate Lauren Falley, who finished tied for 85th after a round of 76 Friday.

Jayde Panos slipped in her final day on the course, shooting a 79, but she still registered a 50th-place finish.

University of Southern California swept the team and individual titles. Annie Park led USC, which beat Duke by 21 strokes, by shooting 10-under for the tournament — giving her a six-stroke cushion on Duke's Celine Boutier.
