OSU's Lowe wins 5,000-meter run at Junior nationals
Oklahoma State freshman Colby Lowe won the 5,000-meter run late Sunday at the U.S. Junior Outdoor Track and Field National Championships Sunday at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field. Colby earns a spot on the U.S. national team for the junior Pan American Games in Trinidad and Tobago from July 31-Aug. 2.
Lowe ran a time of 14 minutes, 31.27 second to win by more than seven seconds over runner-up Sean Keveren of Virginia.
Fellow Oklahoma State freshman Ryan Prentice placed ninth in 15:09.98. German Fernandez did not compete in the race. He ran in the men's senior race Friday, placing fifth.
